Try to fill half your plate with fruits or vegetables, one-quarter with whole grains and the last quarter with lean protein. A healthy diet can help cut your risk of heart disease, high cholesterol and other illnesses.
  • Keep a healthy weight by getting active. Try to get 30-60 minutes of exercise each day with a mix of cardio and strength-training exercises.

  • Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as meditating, breathing exercises or exercises.
  • Get seven or more hours of sleep each night.
  • If you notice a dip your mood that lasts more than two weeks, talk to your doctor. Mental health concerns should be addressed right away and with care.

If you have trouble sticking to your new habits, find a friend or family member who can help you stay on track.
