Boost your physical health

A well-balanced diet and healthy weight are key to getting and staying healthy. Here are a couple tips to help you get started:

  • Eat a healthy diet with a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein. Try to fill half your plate with fruits or vegetables, one-quarter with whole grains and the last quarter with lean protein. A healthy diet can help cut your risk of heart disease, high cholesterol and other illnesses.
  • Keep a healthy weight by getting active. Try to get 30-60 minutes of exercise each day with a mix of cardio and strength-training exercises.

Download Sharecare

You can track your diet and fitness progress using the Blue Cross of Idaho-sponsored Sharecare app. Launch the app and select Track, then scroll to find the diet and fitness trackers. To get the app, visit bcidaho.sharecare.com so you can create your Sharecare account, download the app and take the RealAge® Test. Do not download the Sharecare app directly from the App Store or Google Play.

Recharge your mental health

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. Make sure you are finding ways to help you destress and relax. Here are few ideas:

  • Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as meditating, breathing exercises or exercises.
  • Get seven or more hours of sleep each night.
  • If you notice a dip your mood that lasts more than two weeks, talk to your doctor. Mental health concerns should be addressed right away and with care.

Keep up the pace

Seeing your doctor and making healthy habit changes can help you improve your health and wellbeing. If you have trouble sticking to your new habits, find a friend or family member who can help you stay on track. Be sure to celebrate the small successes you make on your health and wellbeing journey to stay motivated.
