Mobile mammogram vans: Helping you get screened closer to home

Finding time for preventive care can be challenging, especially when travel, work schedules or other responsibilities make it harder to get to an appointment. That’s why mobile mammography vans are such an important resource. They bring breast cancer screening closer to home, making it easier for you to complete your annual screening mammogram in a convenient, familiar location.

Mammograms are one of the best tools available to help find breast cancer early, often before symptoms appear. When breast cancer is found early, treatment may be more effective. Regular preventive screenings can help support long-term health and give members important information to discuss with their healthcare provider.

What are mobile mammogram vans?

Mobile mammogram vans make it easier to get your annual screening close to home. They are equipped to provide mammograms and are staffed with trained professionals who can help answer questions.

Who should get screened?

Screening needs can vary by age, health history and individual risk. According to the American Cancer Society

  • Women ages 40 to 44 may choose to get a mammogram every year, or as recommended by your doctor.
  • Women ages 45 to 54 should get a mammogram every year, or as recommended by your doctor.
  • Women ages 55 and older may keep getting yearly mammograms or switch to every other year, or as recommended by your doctor.

Preventive screenings like mammograms are covered at no cost to Blue Cross of Idaho members when they see an in-network provider.
