Updates to COVID-19-related benefits

Blue Cross of Idaho updated benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic to help support members. But as both the Federal Public Health Emergency and National Emergency come to an end on May 11, 2023, we will be updating some of the pandemic-era benefits.

covid-19 benefit changesHere are the changes we will be making to COVID-19-related benefits:

COVID-19 testing

COVID-19 diagnostic testing will only be covered if your plan specifically covers diagnostic tests. If it does, claims for Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved or authorized COVID-19 testing claims will be covered at regular plan in-network or out-of-network cost-sharing amounts. Check your plan benefits to see if these tests are covered.

At-home COVID-19 tests

At-home COVID-19 tests will no longer be covered after May 11, 2023.

COVID-19 immunizations

If your plan covers immunizations, COVID-19 vaccines will be covered at no cost to you when administered by an in-network provider. Out-of-network benefits will apply if you go to an out-of-network provider. You can use this vaccine search tool to find vaccine locations near you.

COVID-19 treatment

Depending on your plan benefits, claims for medically necessary treatments authorized, cleared or approved by the FDA, such as Paxlovid, may be covered based on the terms of your health plan.
