Investing in Idaho communities

Dedicated to giving back

investing in idaho communitiesBlue Cross of Idaho is dedicated to giving back to the communities we call home. Through our nonprofit foundation, The Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health, we’re able to focus on giving back to Idaho and addressing root causes to health issues.

In 2020, the Foundation invested nearly $2.4 million toward programs, projects and grants, directly reaching 43 of Idaho’s 44 counties. It also donated $300,000 to nonprofit organizations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Where we live, learn, work and play greatly impacts our health, so the Foundation commissioned a statewide study to look at how those conditions affect individual and community health. The results were used to create the Building A Healthy Idaho report.

This report is helping guide the Foundation’s work in 2021 and beyond. There are three areas of focus looking at the root causes of what impacts health around the state:

  • Community: Build healthy communities by working with local elected officials and organizations
  • Education: Remove barriers to education students face by connecting with communities, schools and organizations
  • Healthcare: Connect existing healthcare with community services and find ways to bring more healthcare providers to rural Idaho
