Don't forget to hydrate

Tips to help you stay hydrated during warmer months

As the heat of the summer holds strong, it’s important that we remember to stay hydrated. When you’re busy outside, you may forget to drink water. But by drinking enough water during outdoor activities in summer heat, you can keep yourself from getting dehydrated.

Three tips to stay hydrated

Get a water bottle with a straw

This may seem simple, but when you drink out of a straw you are more likely to drink more than you would if you were just sipping out of a cup. That's because a straw makes it more convenient and easier to drink.

Add flavor enhancers to your water

There are many kinds of flavor enhancers, but one of the best ways to add flavor to your water is to cut up citrus fruits and freeze them. When you're ready to fill up your water bottle, pick your favorite frozen fruits and throw them in your water. They will act as ice cubes, keeping your water cold while adding fresh flavor.

Keep fresh fruits and veggies on hand

Vegetables and fruits have a higher water content than other foods, which makes them an ideal food to eat in the hot summer months. Make sure you have a variety of fruits and vegetables on hand to add to meals and snacks throughout your day.

There are many ways to keep your water habits on track, including setting timers to remind you to drink water or keeping track of how much water you’ve had with an app on your phone. Whatever you decide to do, you’ll be making a difference in your health with every sip – and that's something to be proud of.
