This sort of preventive care is one of the best ways to stay on top of your health. Your primary care provider (PCP) can help guide you to get the screenings and care that can help find any potential issues early – before they become problems.
The relationship you have with your PCP is one of the most important you can have when it comes to living your healthiest life. Your PCP is your own personal health advocate who can help guide you to the care you need for your specific circumstance.
Many preventive screenings are covered at little to no cost to you as part of your healthcare benefits. The story on page 4 offers more information about preventive care.
Since the beginning of the year, many of us have become eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, helping to slow the spread of the disease and bring the end of the pandemic within sight.
But to truly end the pandemic and get life back to normal, it is important for more of us to get vaccinated.
Concerns and rumors about the vaccine have swirled since it was released, but the vaccines are safe and effective. All vaccines that are now available have gone through rigorous testing to meet the exacting standards of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). And while they were developed quickly, safety was not sacrificed.
Getting the facts about the vaccines is key to understanding why it is so important. If you have questions about the vaccines, we encourage you to visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s website at cdc.gov/coronavirus.
If you need help finding where and how to get vaccinated, contact your doctor or pharmacy. Local health districts and state governments are also an important source of information on where you can get vaccinated, depending on where you live. They can help you understand your options and answer your questions.
No matter where you get vaccinated, you will not pay anything out of pocket – that means no copays or cost sharing of any kind. All COVID-19 vaccines are available to you at no cost.
We are continuing to carefully watch the ever-evolving situation – both nationally and around the world – and doing what we can to support you and your family. You can visit bcidaho.com/coronavirus any time for the most recent information and updates.
Thank you for your trust and we look forward to getting back to life as normal.
